Remember when marketing a business was so simple? There once was a time when a business owner could just pick from one of three TV networks and reach everyone. Now we have the Internet and with that came social media marketing as part of Web 3.0.
The first question that typically comes up is, "What is social media marketing and how can I make money from using it properly?". First in order to give a definition of Social Media Marketing we need to explain the difference between Web 1.0, Web 2.0 and Web 3.0
- Web 1.0 was when the Internet was new to us all and we discovered that we could search for things and find answers. With Web 1.0 we searched and found things to read.
- Web 2.0 was when we could do more than just read what we searched for on the Internet, we could all be publishers on the Internet. We could upload videos to YouTube, we could put pictures on Facebook, we could Tweet! Web 2.0 is all about two way communication on the Internet and being able to publish our own content without being a website programmer.
- Web 3.0 is a combination of everything above along with more personalized experiences on the Internet. Today we can write reviews about products and services of a company. More than that we can search for things on Bing and the websites our Facebook friends like will rank higher. Using Google+ we can search for things and the websites of those in our Google Circles will rank higher. With Web 3.0 the Internet has become more personalized.
There are many options available to a business owner who wants to use Social Media Marketing and Web 3.0 techniques to obtain new clients and better ranking within the search engines. For more information on this topic please click to see Social Media Marketing.
